Components of Solar Hot Water System based on collectors “Focus 42”

“Focus 42”is mounted in a unit from composite materials with thermal insulation on the inner side. A double layer transparent coating provides high permissive capacity, good thermal insulation and endurance to hailstones.

Under the coating is placed the reflecting and focusing surface. The pipe system is in the geometric focus of the reflectors and it has been taken out of the unit by means of connectors.

The product is manufactured in two models: “Focus-42 C” – steel pipe system and “Focus-42N” – from stainless steel. The panel is provided with two temperature sensors at the input and the output or only one temperature sensor at the output.

Size: 1020 x 2030 x 200 m. Efficient area: 1.83 m²

The metal stand is bearing for model “Focus-42” and provides its free rotation. The tilt of the collector related to the horizon is defined according to the purpose of the system – for the summer season or for use throughout the whole year.

The daily orientation of the collector against the sun is performed by the driving mechanism with an electric motor, part of the stand set.

The stands are produced for flat roofs (ground) or for slanted roofs. For slanted roofs it is obligatory to measure the slant angle in advance. For each site it is necessary to ascertain the orientation of the installation area according to the magnetic South with the help of a compass.

Two neighbouring stands are mounted in a way that the distance between the rotation axis  of the panels is not smaller than 2 m, so that there is no shading of the panels with one another.

B-12P – controller for controlling the system of one collector “Focus-42”
The controller is designed for continuous outdoor work in an IP67 box with transparent cover. It is supplied with a lit LCD, LED indication and simplified keyboard. It constantly measures and displays the temperature at the output of the system, the water heater’s temperature, the rotation coordinates, the real time (hour: minutes). It controls the electric motor of the stand, directing the collector to the sun and performs the return to sunrise position. It protects the collector from overheating by carrying out shading rotation. After installation and initial adjustment it does not need servicing.BS-12P controls the pump in the system by means of a stepless start scheme. It is powered by module BS-P14A.

BA-P14A –  powering module for a system with one solar collector “Focus-42” (below). It provides powering of controller BS-12P and switches on the pump by its order. It tracks and charges the external battery 12 V. Upon failure of the mains supply it maintains the movement of the collector until depletion f the battery charge and afterwards it switches the system off.

The electric connections are performed according to the described order of terminals by means of mains cable 3 x 0.75. Special and expensive installation instruments are not necessary.

BS-12S – Controller for control of collector “Focus-42”, connected in a system of collectors guided by the main module BS-F100.

For solar systems having from 2 to 15 movable collectors, controller BS-12S is attached on each stand. Designed for continuous outdoor work, the module is responsible for the accurate orientation of the collector during the day, the return to sunrise position and the performance of a self-shading rotation for protection from overheating. It indicates on a lit display the temperature at the input and output and the direction of change every second. By means of an easy-to-use keyboard the clock in the module is set and it is charged by a lithium battery. After installation and adjustment of the coordinates of the collector, the module does not need servicing. The display and the keyboard are protected under a transparent cover with locking. In order to enhance the observation from a distance there are additional bright LEDs under the cover and they indicate the direction of rotation and the communication with the main module.

The data from each controller BS-12S are accessible from the main module or computer by means of a communication cable which encompasses all collectors and stands together with the powering cable.

One “Focus-42” set includes: collector, stand, controller, engine, temperature sensors.
